Diana Buitrago is a portrait and landscape painter from Colombia, living and working in New York City and Jersey City.

Her extensive formal artistic training in the classical atelier method includes the four year program at the Art Students League, Artistic Anatomy coursework at Drexel University's School of Medicine, and the four year Core Program at the Grand Central Atelier. She has studied under artists Michael Grimaldi, Dan Thompson, Jon deMartin, Jacob Collins, and Colleen Barry. She is also a former pupil of Master painter Odd Nerdrum. Diana's work has been widely recognized for its excellence. She is a three-time Hudson River Fellow, an alumnus of the Château de La Napoule Residency, and has won prizes from the GCA, the ASL, the Portrait Society of America, New York Figurative Prize at The Salmagundi Club and the Stobard Foundation.She is currently a Core instructor at the Grand Central Atelier, part-time workshop instructor at the Art Students League of New York.

Diana se formó en la academias de Grand Central Atelier , NY en donde completó cuatro años de estudios dirigido por Jacob Collins y Colleen Barry. También ha estudiado con instructores como Dan Thompson, Michael Grimaldi, Jon deMartin en el Art Students League of New York y Anatomia Artística en Drexel University of Medicina bajo la tutela de Michael Grimaldi. Recientemente, Diana trabajó y asistió al Maestro Odd Nerdum en su estudio en Noruega. Su trabajo ha sido reconocido por premios internacionales en certámenes como el Portrait Society of America, La Napoulle Fellowship, Salmagundi Club, Hudson River Fellowship y la Stobard Foundation.

“Mi trabajo pictórico tiene como enfoque comprender la complejidad del dibujo y la pintura de la figura humana dentro de los estándares de excelencia técnica establecidos por la tradición artística del los maestros del Barroco, sin perder la contemporaneidad y sensibilidad de la realidad actual. El estudio de la naturaleza y el trabajo directo del natural son clave en mi proceso de trabajo. Es la fuente inagotable de inspiración, estudio e investigación.”
